Hariharan Chandrashekar , Managing Director, BCIL On organising the monthly Rainseed Festival at Eco Village
What is the Rainseed Festival all about?
The Rainseed Festival is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the elements of nature. It is our way of saying thank you to nature and everything natural that exists around us. The Rainseed Festival used to be organised once a year in Goa, Cochin and Bangalore in the past, but we have now decided to make it a monthly event.
What made you make the festival a monthly event?
We want to make the festival a kind of a movement. Through this festival we want to sensitise people to issues such as water, hydro energy and other natural elements through music and dance. While we have people performing, we will be passing on subtle messages to the viewers either through signages or even through the performers themselves.
What is the plan for your first show?
We are co-ordinating this entire festival with Bangalore-based band Thermal and a Quarter.
The monthly festival will kick start on November 8 at Trans Indus Eco Village with a performance by TAAQ.
Incidentally, through their music, TAAQ addresses many sensitive issues such as nclination of youngsters towards drugs and suicide etc.
Any other performers on for the festival?
We have plans to make each of the shows unique. So we have performers from different genres of music and dance who will take part in future shows.
How will you choose who can perform at the festival?
We have a couple of musicians who will help us identify talented performers for all our forthcoming shows. The judges will include members of TAAQ as well as musicians such as Raghupathy Dixit and Taufiq Qureshi.
